Has anyone noticed that when we protest now days its about something that our elected leaders have mentioned or some radical knucklehead from pop culture has screamed about? There used to be ground roots protests for issues that bothered us and we would protest them. The Civil Rights marches and protests didn’t start with the idiots in DC or Holywood. They started with regular citizens. With a Pastor form Atlanta. Now we have elected officials, talking heads, musicians, movie stars, pop culture ions from social media telling us what we should be offended by. What we need to protest.
I’m not saying that some of those things shouldn’t be protested, but when we don’t do our own research of an issue important to us and just let the group of instigators above tell us what to do we are noting but their tool to get what they want. We have lett them usurp our power to control what we want and need as a Republic. Both Republicans and Democrats call us a democracy. WE ARE NOT a democracy we are a democratically elected republic aka Democratic Republic.
We need to find a way to take that power back. Back in the 1960’s and early 70’s you had regular people who protested the Vietnam War. You had Dr King leading the civil rights fight. After he was assassinated, his movement was usurped by people with a different agenda than Dr King. The Black Panther Party was one of the leaders of this change. It became more violent and radical.
We see today that politicians and the media fear mongers like to cry that the country is in dire peril from various actions by people that are not aligned with them politically. Its not just liberals that do this the conservatives are just as bad. Somebody needs to become a voice that will try to contradict the narratives of both sides and deescalate the national narrative of you bad me good that both sides use against each other.
We need someone who will be a peacemaker. Someone who will set aside the popular or radical from either side and find the middle ground that would benefit the most people. Trying to get the radical agends of either the left or the right is suicidal. It will eventually kill our republic. We will disappear like the Romans and Greeks.
Before the upheaval of the late 60’s and early 70’s both conservatives and liberals were a majority Christian and would pray for answers to problems. Now we don’t. Instead of going to God for answers we look to our Capital and our elected officials. We don’t have a Billy Graham that was a confidiant to most of our Presidents until his death. Now we don’t have a Christian leader of National prominence to speak up for us, to speak religious truth about the direction we are headed.
How do we get away from making the people with a different political or social view from us out to be the villain?
