I’m watching the political ads for our Republican candidates and almost every one of them are trying to align themselves to Donald Trump, similar to a dog in heat humping its owners leg. I don’t like how they are trying to give up their responsibilities to his agenda. The people running for the House represent ALL of the people in their district not Donald. The people running for Senate are supposed to represent our state’s interests.

To the gentlemen and ladies running for the state offices, what does the President have to do with what is happening in our state? The Comptroller is responsible for watching how the state finances are spent. The Attorney General oversees the legal issues.  So on and so forth. None of our state officers or offices have anything to do with the resident in the White House, whether they are Republican or Democrat.

Some how we the citizens of the country need to find a common ground to look past the divisiveness coming from DC and our individual state capitals. They want us to be divided and distrustful of each other. When we can sit together and discuss issues with each other, we generally can come to an agreement on a solution or if not agree to disagree and move on, we need to find a way to be civil to our fellow citizens. When we watch our elected officials, we see them acting like Third World politicians instead of what we were used to in the past.  Our Senators once upon a time were civil with one another even when they disagreed on whatever issue they wer debating. Now it’s the norm to call each other names. We should demand better from them. Thomas Jefferson wrote that we should have term limits to prevent a permanent political class.  John Adams wrote in 1776 that representatives should be chosen every year to ensure a rotation of offices and that they would not lose sight of their constituents’ needs.

We can see in all of our elected officials that after so much time in office they don’t listen to our concerns as much as they pay attention to what the party leadership says and wants. When Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House there was no Democratic opposition to what her and her leaders said everyone had to toe the party line or else. We can see that now with Republicans to a large extent. If you don’t follow the Presidents lead you basically get banished and ignored. People this is unacceptable.  We need to hold them all accountable for this breakdown, we need to hold ourselves accountable if we are part of the problem. Some of our brothers and sisters on the far ends of both political spectrums love to use the name Nazi to refer to those we disagree with that’s wrong. The far left and the far right are a bit on the extreme but neither side goes as far as Hitler and his goons did.  The closest thing to the concentration camps America ever had was the Japanese internment camps of WWII. Created by FDR a democrat.
