Texas Republicans have a choice to make. John Cornyn or Ken Paxton. Both have issues. Ken Paxton has a terrible record on his past ethics issues. He has done a passable job as the Attorney General for Texas. John Cornyn is known for being tto willing to work across the aisle with the democrats and isn’t 100% aligned with the MAGA movement with President Trump. My question is which is more important? Working for the States interests which don’t always align with the President or being his lap dog like Ken Paxton? Are Ken Paxton’s ethics issues enough to give Talarico an edge in the general election in November? I fear that it is.
Even though most of what the president does is good his plans do not always benefit Texas. We don’t always want a person in office that will not take our needs into account over what the person in the White House wants. John Cornyn has been there done that. Ken Paxton says that is wrong and that he would always back the President. That is wrong.
We as a nation deify or demonize our presidents. Look at Obama one of the worst presidents of recent history. Bill Clinton he’s mostly respected by both republicans and democrats. W most people think he was a joke dumber than a brick. Biden not even his own party could stomach hi in the end. Trump everyone seems to forget he was everyone’s buddy until he ran for president as a republican. To the vast majority of liberals and democrats he’s the antichrist, to MAGA he’s the second coming.
The people tend to overlook the fact that all of these men are flawed. Other than Biden they all did things that were good for the country. They also did things that were disastrous for the country also. When we are voting for our representatives or senators, we need to take the national issues out of the equation or who our elected president is. How well do individuals in question do in representing OUR interests. Not what they can give us.
